Upcoming Events

What: King County Parks and the Denny Creek Neighborhood Alliance are planting nearly 2000 seedlings of Oregon ash, maple, Western red cedar, and hemlock in Juanita Woodlands. The seedlings will replace diseased Doug Firs and will create a local forest that is ecologically diverse, healthy, and beautiful. We need your help! We have several hundred more seedlings to plant this wnter and we've scheduled a final volunteer event for this Saturday, January 16 from 9am to 1pm.

Please come out and help us reforest the Woodlands--it's a great way to get outside, to do somethign tanglible to help the neighborhood, and it's a terrific family event. When: Saturday, January 16 from 9am until 1pm (or as your schedule permits). The event will proceed rain or shine, but will be postponed if high winds are expected. Please check back here for event updates.

Where: We'll meet inside the Woodlands, in the Western section; follow the path from the Juanita Woodlands sign on Holmes Point Drive, about 50 yards south of Fire Station 25 (across the Juanity Drive/Holms Point intersection from Plaza Garcia Restaurant).

How: We’ll show you everything you need to know to plant trees. It’s easy! The County will provide all of the necessary tools. Just bring gloves, put on some sturdy shoes and dress warmly. All ages are welcome. Some clambering over tree trunks and around shrubs will be required.

Extras: Coffee and donuts will be available, at least to those who show up right on time. (Supplies will be limited.) Bathroon facilities will be available in the fire station.
