In December 2009, the Kirkland City Council voted to approve the annexation of the Finn Hill, Kingsgate and North Juanita neighborhoods.  That vote followed a November vote of the residents in the proposed annexation areas that fell less than one percent short of approving a measure bundling approval of annexation with an agreement to pay additional taxes to help fund the transition. The Council's vote moves forward with annexation but cannot support the additional tax measure. Annexation is now scheduled to be completed by June 2011.
